Re: Thursday, Jan 27

My plans for tomorrow:

Today I tested the emitter circuit (it WORKS!). Tonight I will
investigate the differences among the OPAMPs. So tomorrow I will be able
to hook a couple more emitters together & maybe even start building the
sensor circuit. (This probably entails a visit to Supremetronics
tomorrow.) One thought: I think it might be better to modulate the signal
at a really high frequency (ie 10+kHz or maybe even 40+kHz, since our
filters are just high pass filters and people are modulating their signals
at high freq -- ie if we modulate at 800Hz, our filter will pick up
anything over 800Hz, including the enemy signal possibly). I could build
a bandpass filter but that gets complicated....

BTW, I think I may have made a mistake on the capacitor connections on the
motor. Cindy, pls bring the motor tomorrow & I will fix it. As well,
Cindy, I know most people are using toothed gears -- we don't have to do
what they are doing. Belts are fine... (yes... Joyce finally succumbs to
the belt). Moreover, I don't understand why people are using plastic
gears. Just keep in mind that plastic cracks easily & wears out rather
quickly. I worry about how the joint b/w the gear & the shaft will wear
out or fatigue.

Joyce :)
